Embassy of Japan in Iran Held Delivery Ceremony of the Emergency Relief Goods in Response to the Flood Disaster

The Embassy of Japan in the Islamic Republic of Iran held the Delivery Ceremony of the Emergency Relief Goods in the Relief and Rescue Organization’s base in Tehran on 13th April in response to the flood disaster. H.E. Ambassador Saito and Mr. Kobayashi, Chief Representative of JICA in Iran from the Japanese side and Mr. Farazande, Assistant to the Minister and Director General of Asia and Oceania Department of MoFA, Mr. Salimi, Head of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and Mr. Nuri, Member of Board of the Iranian Red Crescent Society from the Iranian side attended the ceremony.
H.E. Ambassador Saito, while extending his sincere condolence to the victims and their families, said that we Japanese were deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the severe damage to the infrastructure caused by the flood due to the heavy rain all over the Islamic Republic of Iran and we sincerely hoped that these goods would contribute to efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by the flood. He added that we still remember with deep gratitude the assistance Iran extended to us at the time of Great East Japan Earthquake and we are ready to continue to cooperate with the Iranian relevant partners in order to assist the efforts made by the Iranian people for emergency assistance, recovery and future reconstruction.
JICA delivered the Emergency Relief Goods to the Iranian Red Crescent Society through the MoFA and the relevant document was signed by the Embassy of Japan, JICA, the Iranian Red Crescent Society and the MoFA.

On 10 April 2019, the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods (190 Tents, 1,150 Sleeping pads, 100 Plastic sheets) ,total of about 6 tons, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to Iran in response to the damage caused by the recent flood.
