Signing Contracts on “Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects”

“Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP)” implemented by the Government of Japan is a flexible and timely funding scheme, which supports grass-roots level socio-economic development projects initiated by civil society organizations addressing people’s Basic Human Needs (BHNs).
On 16 January, H.E. Mr. AIKAWA Kazutoshi, Ambassador of Japan to Iran signed GGP contracts with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for the following five projects at a total amount of 479,948 Euro.
1. The contract on granting a donation of 66,451 Euro to Relief International for "The Project for Introduction of a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) for Afghan Refugees and Vulnerable People in Khorasan Razavi Province".
2. The contract on granting a donation of 57,833 Euro to Pars Development Activists for “The Project for Introduction of Equipment to the Vocational Training Center for Vulnerable Iranian and Afghan Refugee Women in Alborz Province”
3. The contract on granting a donation of 140,000 Euro to Rah-e Aseman Charity Foundation for “The Project for Introduction of Mammography Equipment for Indigent Women in Semnan Province”
4. The contract on granting a donation of 72,543 Euro to Zanjireh Omid International Charity Institute for “The Project for Introduction of one Ambulance for Secure Transportation of Pediatric Patients in Tehran Province”
5. The contract on granting a donation of 143,121 Euro to Soodeh Medical Center Charity Institute for “The Project for Introduction of Medical Equipment for Indigent Patients Suffering from Kidney Failure and Severe Medical Conditions in Tehran Province”

The Embassy of Japan has supported the projects proposed by NGOs and local governments since 1999 through this GGP scheme, and has carried out 150 projects in this country so far in the fields of primary education, primary health care, public welfare, and rural development.
The Government of Japan will continue to support NGOs and local governments of Iran in the humanitarian and development field.
