Relaxation of Entry Restrictions for Foreign Nationals
Following the decision to relax the restrictions on foreign nationals entering Japan, from 8th November 2021, those who have received a screening certificate known as a ShinsaZumisho (審査済証)from the appropriate Ministry or Agency of the Government of Japan will be eligible to submit a visa application.
Eligibility
1) Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a short-term stay (less than 3 months) for business or for work
2) Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a long term stay
2) Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a long term stay
Documents Required
- 1) Copy of the ShinsaZumisho (審査済証) issued by the appropriate Ministry or Agency of the Government of Japan (Note 1)
2) Visa application documents (Note 2) - Applications without a Certificate of Eligibility for a short term stay for business or for work
- Applications with a Certificate of Eligibility for a short term stay for business or for work, or for long term stay
- Note 1: Please contact the inviting organisation in Japan for further information on how to obtain the ShinsaZumisho
- Note 2: Please be advised that additional documents other than those listed above may be required in some cases.
Additional important information
Applicants who fall under the existing ‘exceptional circumstances’ may submit a visa application without a ShinsaZumisho. Please contact the visa section on 020-7465-6565 for further information.
