Contract of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects
by the Government of Japan regarding
Kerman SAMEN-OL HOJAJ Charity Institute
Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) has acquired an excellent reputation for providing flexible and timely support to development projects at the grass-roots level. The contract for granting a donation of €69,112 to Kerman SAMEN-OL HOJAJ Charity Institute will be signed by Mr. Kinichi Komano, Ambassador of Japanese Embassy in Iran and Mr. Ali Shamsinia, Managing Director of Kerman SAMEN-OL HOJAJ Charity Institute, on 1st March 2011.
It is said that the global rate of patients who suffer from special diseases such as thalassemia or hemophilia is 5% to 6%, but the rate in Iran is unfortunately higher. Some newspaper said that the number of thalassemia patients in Iran was increasing by 60,000 people, yearly, so that only in Jiroft city of Kerman province 1,000 patients are suffering from this disease. One of the reasons for such an increasing number lies in heredity factor.
When the diseases are progressed, the patients of the area need to go to Kerman city to take some complicated medical treatments such as blood transfusion and artificial dialysis, which take some 3 hours in regular basis. Therefore, they must bear a heavy burden of expenses both physically and economically.
For these reasons, Kerman SAMEN-OL HOJAJ Charity Institute, initiated a plan to establish the medical center for special diseases, equipped with medical devices such as artificial dialysis, etc. The Institute, subsequently applied for GGP to finance the required establishment, which was accepted by the Government of Japan and the related contract is to be signed on 1st March 2011.
The Government of Japan intends to further continue its assistance to Local governments, NGOs and non-profit organizations actives in the humanitarian and development fields, in the Islamic Republic of Iran. (End)
