Contract of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects
by the Government of Japan regarding
Kermanshah Agricultural-Jihad Provincial Office
Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) has acquired an excellent reputation for providing flexible and timely support to development projects at the grass-roots level. The contract for granting a donation of €64,369 to Kermanshah Agricultural-Jihad Provincial Office will be signed by Mr. Kinichi Komano, Ambassador of Japanese Embassy in Iran and Mr. Ramazan Roointan, Director General of Kermanshah Agricultural-Jihad Provincial office, on 31st January 2011.
In Ravansar township of Kermanshah province, it became apparent that the soil had too few organic substances, thereby, it made reduction in yield and led farmers poor. Japanese government was requested the project named “The Study on Gharasu River Basin Agricultural Infrastructure Development Project” by Iranian government and implemented the project from 2003 to 2004. In the result, the suggestions were submitted such as the implementation of multiple farm management from aspects both environmental load-reducing and rising and stabilizing farm income.
Although Kermanshah Agricultural-Jihad Provincial Office is trying to realize the suggestions with their heart, they could not equip the machines to establish the system which enables stable provision of the compost from compost center in order to promote environmental-friendly agriculture using compost from organic waste.
For these reasons, Kermanshah Agricultural-Jihad Provincial Office initiated a plan to equip both the tractor to carry compost from compost center and the spreaders to sprinkle the compost to farm lands and applied GGP to implement the required equipment. The Government of Japan accepted this project and is going to sign the contract with Kermanshah Agricultural-Jihad Provincial Office.
The Government of Japan intends to further continue its assistance to NGOs and non-profit organizations active in the humanitarian and development fields, in the Islamic Republic of Iran. (End)
