Announcement of Start of the Project
The Government of Japanhas decided to assist Japanese NGO, “Nippon International Cooperation for Community Development (NICCO)”,in a new project titled “Program for Establishment and Operation of the Vocational Training Center for Afghan Refugees and Vulnerable Iranians”. In this connection, a contract was signed between the Government of Japan and NICCO, on January 28th, 2013, as a project of Grant Assistance to Japanese NGO in 2012, for the amount of approximately Euro 300,000.
Most of Afghan refugees in Iran hesitate to repatriate to their mother country not only because the circumstances of Afghanistan have not been improved but also because most of themneither have enough information on Afghanistansituation, nor enough skills to live on in Afghanistan after their repatriation. These cause some problems such as extension of their stay in Iran and a lack of motivation to repatriate to their country.
To solve these problems, NICCO has been implementing vocational training projects since 2003, aiming at enhancing computer skills and English language capabilities of VulnerableIranians and Afghan refugees in Mashhad city of KhorasanRazavi Province, by which more than 3,500 trainees could acquire various technical skills.
This project, whose contract was signed in the current year, is scheduled to implement vocational trainings, including basic trainingssuch as English and PC courses, as well asadvanced course in assistant nurse, by using NICCO’s experiences and know-how. The project will continue for 3 years.NICCO is also planning to change its venue from Mashhad to Rey city of Tehran Province. |
